Defective PCB Cleaner Cans Could Cause Eye Injury

A new recall out of Australia, gives a new meaning to the phrase, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” The recall is for an aerosol can that is used to clean circuit boards.

The cleaner is called Electrolube Safewash PCB Cleaner, it was manufactured by H K Wentworth Pty Ltd and it was sold nationally through Electrolube distributors from Jan 2009 – Dec 2011. Electrolube is sold in the USA and UK. Traders who sold this product were RS Components Farnell / Element 14 Prime Electronics Oritech Mektronics.

They have issued the recall because apparently the aerosol can is likely to rupture, therefore causing the contents to be ejected at high pressure and creating a hazard to the user, and more specifically to their eyes.

If a consumer identifies that they have a product with batch numbers, 205456, 205649, 205649, 205810, 206062, 206356, then the consumer should contact HK Wentworth for assistance, cease using the product and release the contents completely and dispose of the empty can. HK Wentworth will then replace this product.
